Drink - Beer Real Ale Festival
In aid of St Ann’s Church, Mr Thomas’ Chop House is hosting the Blessed Beer Real Ale Festival in St Ann’s Square from the 14-16 September. You can sample the ales from 11am-11pm, or until the beers no longer flow. It will house 24 cask real ales and four ciders, having been sourced from local micro-breweries. Each pint sold will raise fifty pence for the church roof fund.

Bar – Sound Control Bar Launch
Club and live gig venue, Sound Control, is opening as a bar, seven days a week from 6pm this Friday. The New Wakefield Street venue has added 47 inch plasma screens which will show old footage, premier league football and champions league football. To celebrate the bar opening, they are throwing a party with a selection of DJs including Cherry, Take the whole cake, Zutekh and Lowdown and Dirty. It’s free entry, they offer free wi-fi and have gathered a range of new drinks to serve. They have a host of Cask Ales coming soon as well, including Old Peculiar, Bombardier, Hobgoblin and Pedigree.

Club - The Function Room at Odder Bar
With the never ending surge of new bars around the Oxford Road area, Odder Bar decided in order to keep up, a refurbishment was mandatory. The new decor will be put to judging eyes on Saturday 15 September, with a showcase of DJs christening The Function Room.

Didsbury Wedding Planner
A wedding event has been organised by Keep Calm and Marry, in partnership with Didsbury Life this weekend. It will take place on Sunday 16 September, showcasing local, talented and independent Didsbury businesses to future brides, grooms and civil partners. The event runs from 11am–4pm. Admissions and parking is free, but donations to local charity, Francis House Children’s Hospice are encouraged.

Jonathan Schofield’s National Trust Tours
Join Jonathan as he takes you on a City Centre Urban Walk tour. The entertaining, fact-filled tours of the city last 90 minutes and will underline the significance of Manchester’s past and present, with the occasional surprise visits into building as well. Exhibition- The Fanny Gogh Exhibition
Manchester artist, Sian Elizabeth Doherty, AKA Fanny Gogh, is exhibiting her knicker-inspired-collages to the public, from Friday 14 at Generation Gallery. The exhibition will run until 23 September. Famed for her ‘knickerbokaglory’ collages, Fanny’s list of famous underwear donators includes American comedian Rob Schneider, Radio 1 presenter Sara Cox, Waterloo Road actress Chelsea Healey and Shameless stars Ciaran Griffiths, Tina Malone and Rebecca Atkinson. Money from every piece of celebrity underwear artwork sold or auctioned will go to The British Heart Foundation.

Comedy - Frog and Bucket
‘Fear of a Brown Planet’ kicks off its tour on Sunday 16 September at the Frog and Bucket. The Australian comedy duo received rave reviews at their sell out run at last year’s Edinburgh Festival. Aamer Rahman and Nazeem Hussain tackle subjects such as Islam, immigrants and racism with their razor sharp wit, intelligence and engaging stand up routines.

Club - Revolver at the Deaf Institute
Saturday 15 September sees a pre-freshers Revolver special at the Deaf Institute. Music will be a mixture of groovy 60s pop, west coast, rock’n’roll, mo-town and soul. Entry price is £3 with a flyer and £4 without before 12pm.
