An excellent light but exciting choice for dining out on Saturday is Salvi's Mozzarella Bar at the Exchange Square. Nothing beats good Italian food and since everything with mozzarella is fantastic just order anything from the menu, as long as it has mozzarella. For a fine cocktail in extravagant surroundings go to The Room on King Street, they have a good selection in their cocktail menu for every occasion. Champagne cocktails sound like the thing to go for on this weekend before Valentine's. Club
Sankeys promises a fist pumping euphoria on Friday with Swedish house titan John Dahlback, along with Sister Bliss, Juan Kidd and Dutch Rudder. On Saturday night it's time for the Zoo as Ibiza's Zoo Project bring their beachy feel to Ancoats. The line up includes Yaya, Shaun Reeves, Mikey James and Evan Baggs. Concert
End the weekend on a Monday with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds concert at Manchester Arena. It's his first Manchester Arena show in five years. He'll showcase tracks from his new album High Flying Birds as well as play some classic Noel Gallagher hits. Support comes from Sheffield´s indie rock band Reverend And The Makers. Cotton: Global Threads is a new exhibition at theWhitworth Art Gallery and opens on Saturday. It tells a compelling story about the production, consumption and global trade in cotton, the world's first global commodity. The exhibits, which take over all the ground floor galleries, cover all the corners of the world from Lancashire to Africa and Asia to America and takes the viewers through periods from the Middle Ages to the present day. Still on the Roadshow at the Lowry offers people a chance of a good laugh on Saturday. Following the BBC One's Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow comes the chance to see Mike Gunn and Sean Collins in a double headline show. Film
Danielle Radcliffe and Janet McTeer star in the new thriller The Woman In Black. A young lawyer finds himself in a remote village, terrorised by a spectre. He attempts to help the spirit find peace but it turns on him and his family instead. The movie has been reviewed well, where the emphasis is not on gore and blood splatters but suspension and chills. Definitely a movie to see with someone who will hold your hand the entire time. Once Upon A Wartime is a new exhibition at IWMN that opens on Saturday. The exhibition focuses on children novels set in war time and their stories are set up in a historical context of real conflicts. The exhibition, which is free of charge, launches this weekend with a Storytelling Festival, with Katrice Horsley, the new National Storytelling Laureate. A good choice for the theatre on the weekend is Alfie, the famous story of this working class Don Juan and his love for free love in the Sixties. Go for a bit of nostalgia in the cinema and introduce the kids to your old childhood favourites of Kermit, miss Piggy, the Swedish Chef and the rest of The Muppets gang in their new movie, The Muppets. Co-starring with them are Jason Segel, Amy Adams and Chris Cooper in a story where The Muppets reunite to save their old theatre from destruction because of a greedy oil baron.
