GREAT CITYGAMES & MANCHESTER 10k
Manchester is on the run this weekend with the 10k and Great CityGames hitting the city centre this weekend.
Over 40,000 runners will take part in this year's Morrisons Great Manchester run - Europe's largest 10k event. The race - which has so far raised over £22m for charity - will be broadcast live on BBC2 between 11am and 1pm on Sunday. Should you wish to spectate, the race will begin on Portland Street near the Oxford Street junction and end on Deansgate by the Beetham Tower - details here.
Meanwhile, 25,000 are expected to attend the Great CityGames on Saturday to see athletics stars such as Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill, Olympic long jump champion Greg Rutherford, European indoor pentathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson and 2015 European indoor 60m champion Richard Kilty compete on the Deansgate track. BLOOD ON THE STREETS | Crown Barbers | Sat May 9
They call Jamie Lewis Hadley the new Sweeny Todd, however he's more interested in bleeding to heal rather than kill. Blood On The Streets is a public performance lecture situated within the window of a barbershop - in Manchester, The Crown Barbers in Campfield Arcade. The lecture explores the history of bloodletting as a medical practice, tracing its roots in ancient medicine, the rise of the barber-surgeon and the current understanding of blood within modern medicine. It's free, but you'll need to book.

CLOCK TOWER TOUR - JONATHAN SCHOFIELD | Manchester Town Hall | Sat 9 May | 11am, 1pm
If the city has a local architectural icon it is Manchester Town Hall's tower and spire. The solid, restrained Gothic flamboyance of the 288ft tower is etched on the mind’s eye of every passing Mancunian. In a city with a developing skyline, it’s the lodestone, the solid bond between Victorian past and an uncertain present. Confidential Editor, Jonathan Schofield, will take guests to the top of the tower, including the room where the original clock mechanism resides.

Described as 'The Spice Girls meets the Ace Of Spades', Norweigan four-piece of Anne Marit Bergheim, Turid Jorgensen, Solveig Heilo and Marianne Sveen, will perform their mix of country-folk, blues, rock and pop at The Ruby Lounge.
