BERLIE Doherty´s new play Thin Air will be performed in the Museum of Science and Industry´s (MOSI) Revolution Manchester gallery on 2 and 3 March. Inspiration for the play came from an aviation pioneer replica, AV Roe's 1909 Triplane, which is on display in the museum.
The Carnegie Award-winning writer Berlie Doherty was asked to write a play with the theme of a ghost story set in the Peak District. The writer was struck by the heroism of early aviation pioneers like AV Roe, the first Brit to fly a British aeroplane.
The play is about a pilot from Hayfield in WWI with a haunting secret. It is directed by Joyce Branagh and using theatre, projected imagery and live music the spooky story is told and the heritage, landscape and mythology of the Peak District captured.
