The venue by Heaton Group promises to give visitors a ‘new pub, with old soul’
The Three Mills Beer & Ale House has opened in Wigan today (Friday 9 May), bringing even more historical charm to the town.
Set in Mill One of Wigan’s new Cotton Works development - a transformative 17-acre town-centre development by award-winning property developer Heaton Group - The Three Mills Beer & Ale House adds a new dimension to Wigan’s evolving social scene.
After receiving full planning permission earlier this year, Cotton Works has become the North West's largest brownfield site under single ownership. The vast 17-acre development will transform the historic area into a cutting-edge, mixed-use destination consisting of commercial, residential, food and drink and leisure spaces.
Described as ‘a new pub, with old soul’, the venue’s design pays tribute to the building’s industrial past as Eckersley Mill, the new. The 130-seat pub has retained and enhanced elements of the Grad II-listed building, blending contemporary style with the timeless charm of your classic traditional pub.
The Three Mills boasts a 14-line tap wall and three cask ale pumps whilst stocking an ever-changing range of beers from local Wigan-based breweries like Wily Fox, Problem Child and Wigan Brewhouse and those further afield. Alongside top-class ales, there’s a carefully curated collection of wines, whiskies and other premium spirits that are also used to create their own take on classic cocktails; the Butter-washed Maple Old Fashioned, Banoffee Espresso Martini and an array of Irish Coffees.
Peckish visitors can enjoy hearty bar food in the form of pies, sausage rolls and Scotch eggs as well as doorstop sandwiches, toasties, and loaded jacket potatoes.
John Heaton, Managing Director of Heaton Group said “It’s a proud moment to finally open the doors and breathe new life into this part of the historical mill. The Three Mills is a proper pub, one that instantly feels like it’s always been here, and we believe we’ve delivered something genuinely appealing for both locals and visitors to the town. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone into their new favourite local.”
