CONFIDENTIAL PROMOTION

THERE'S a new chef at The River Bar & Restaurant and things are changing. The Lowry Hotel used to be home to some of the most impressive cooking in the city and now, with Andrew Green at the helm and a fantastic new menu, it is setting its sights at the top once more.

Smart and professional with a touch of rock'n'roll running all the way through

Green is Glossop born and bred and is passionate about the quality of food available in the North West. He's brought on board new suppliers to ensure that the food on the plate at The River Bar & Restaurant is the best it can be. These include the award-winning butchers, Mettrick's of Glossop, Delifresh who grow heritage tomatoes and Neve of Fleetwood who provide great fish and seafood as well as other luminaries of local produce.

The new menu places less emphasis on the Josper grill, and more on creating quarterly-changing menus that use the best ingredients available to capture the essence of each season. The current menu includes dishes such as pan-seared scallops with black pudding and cauliflower, wild mushroom risotto and Morecambe bay trout with clam ragout, potato and spinach.

Although only 34, Green has plenty of experience, with roles as executive chef at Radisson SAS at Manchester Airport, its rival the Crowne Plaza and also with the Park Inns group as well as working under David Gale at the Alias Rossetti (now Abode).

This is a new chapter for The Lowry Hotel but with such passion in the kitchen, it promises to be an exciting one.

In fact, the hotel itself has been transformed with a £4 million refurbishment. General manager, Adrian Ellis, celebrated the makeover as, 'a vote of confidence in Manchester as a leading business and visitor destination.'

Rooms and public areas all have new curtains, fabrics, carpets and colour schemes whilst rooms all now have Smart TVs and wi-fi, enhancing the experience for guests. Reinforcing Manchester's reputation as a rock'n'roll kind of city are images by legendary rock photograher and Salford native, Kevin Cummins as well as photos of familiar Manchester locations by Allan Grainger.

That's The Lowry through and through. Smart and professional with a touch of rock'n'roll running all the way through.
