SOME of the UK’s finest music acts will descend on Manchester’s Sound Control this Sunday for a one-day fest, in celebration of Chris Glaba - a young man from Sale recently diagnosed with stomach, liver and kidney cancer and given just a few months to live.

Kicking off at 2pm, ‘Glabstonbury’ promises a full day of live music and comes after Chris’ sister launched a bucket list appeal to ensure he lives his last few months to the fullest. The 27-year-old music promoter - who has worked with events companies such as Skiddle - has already had a fake stag do in York and dallied with the likes of Samuel L. Jackson. Now, Glaba supporters are throwing a bash in celebration of the inveterate party animal that promises a solid Sunday line-up.
Chris GlabaBrit alternative rock band Maximo Park will headline, with acts including; The Sunshine Underground, The Seahorses’ Chris Helme; Satyr Play; and The Bluetones’ Mike Morris. The View’s Kyle Falconer will be performing an exclusive acoustic set while Happy Monday’s legend Bez - who recently donated his maracas to charity Retrak - is also hosting an impressive raffle at the event.
Tickets prizes include The Courteeners at the Etihad Stadium, VIP Kendall Calling, Hideout Croatia and Malta’s Lost and Found. There will also be a selection of merchandise including a custom beer-brewing kit, signed United and City shirts and a Virgin EMI Records goody bag.
