THE work of Dan Hillier, the renowned black-line artist behind the striking album cover of UK breakthrough act Royal Blood, is to be showcased in Manchester this September (26 – 28), as Buy Art Fair and The Manchester Contemporary return to the city.
Buy Art Fair will be staging live artist paintings, giving attendees a rare and intimate insight into the artists’ creative process with the opportunity to purchase the resulting work.
The Hackney based artist, recognised for using the familiar but often tainted imagery of Victorian etchings to stunning effect, will feature at the acclaimed events, represented by gallery, ArtDog London.
The gallery, which promotes the work of emerging UK artists with a specialist focus on modern, contemporary, Steam Punk and Pop Art, will also be exhibiting the work of Kerry Eggleton, Laurence Wallace, Noel Clegg, David Rhys Jones, Sonia Rollo, Andriana Mendes, Susie Perring and Nick Smith.
Nick, whose work can be seen in bars, hotels and luxury ships around the world, has an instantly identifiable style thanks to his Andy Warhol-esque approach and use of pantone colours on classical art and twentieth century imagery.

New for 2014, Buy Art Fair will be staging a series of live artist paintings. The interactive and engaging exhibits will provide attendees with a rare and intimate insight into the artists’ creative process with the opportunity to purchase the resulting work.
Sitting alongside Buy Art Fair and adding further prestige to the line-up is The Manchester Contemporary, a curated art event that gives a platform to emerging galleries and their artists using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Invited galleries include Vitrine, Carroll/Fletcher, Workplace Gallery, IMT Gallery and The International 3.
Complimentary guided tours of Buy Art Fair and The Manchester Contemporary are being staged throughout the events and provide visitors with the opportunity to increase their knowledge whilst enjoying a glass of wine.
Speaking on Buy Art Fair, ArtDog London curator, Pippa Graber, said, “Manchester is a fantastic place to be – it’s vibrant, buzzing and has a very broad appeal. Both events will this year be staged at Manchester’s newest and most exciting venue, Old Granada Studios.
