Head to Bolton this Bank Holiday
WE can’t wait for the bank holiday weekend later this month (Friday 25 - Monday 28 August 2017) – not just because we get an extra day off, but because it sees the return of Bolton Food & Drink Festival. From burgers to brownies, you’re sure to find something to tickle your tastebuds. Here are our eight top tips…
1) Biggest and best fest ever!
In its twelfth year, the award-winning event has celebrity chefs, cookery demos, special events, afternoon tea plus food and drink stalls across the town centre.
2) Mad Hatter’s Tea Party
Send your little ones down the rabbit hole over at the Alice In Wonderland marquee, with entertainment, activities and food every day at the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.
3) Pasties and beers with Simon Rimmer
Sunday Brunch’s Simon Rimmer is hosting a Beer and Pastie Tasting session with beer expert Annabel Smith and Bolton’s own Carrs Pasties on Saturday afternoon.
4) James Martin cookery demo
Another star putting in an appearance is TV chef James Martin, back for the ninth time! He’ll be running cookery demos and signing books (he has 18 to his name!) throughout Monday.
5) Wine tasting
On Sunday 27th August Ainsley Harriott pairs up with top wine critic Simon Woods to share advice about matching food and wines.
6) Made in Bolton
As an extra special treat and because everyone loves fine dining we're bringing you Made In Bolton by Aiden Byrne to our Main Festival Marquee. On Saturday 26th August, you can experience a fine dining 3 course dinner for just £60 per person with three menu options available with specially selected wines available to purchase at our marquee bar.
7) Regional Chef Cook off Showdown
Two local chefs will face off in the first ever cook-off showdown - who will be victorious... will it be Aiden Bynre or Andrew Nutter. Watch the action in the regional chef marquee on Monday 28th August 2.30pm
8) Bolton Markets
Bolton Markets run throughout the year, but make sure you visit the pick of the stall holders at the festival this weekend. Some will be doing demonstrations and special tastings. We interviewed a few of them to give you a taste of what will be on offer.
