WELL slap my knee and call me Sally, two new Manchester bars in the space of a week? Who'd have thunk it.
G&T Leisure have put forward plans to take on 2 South King Street
Joshing aside, it's hard to think of two drinking establishments futher removed from one another than Manchester's velvet-roped, Bolly-popping Milton Club and a 'dive bar' - which is American for big-swigging stink hole with no toilet seats.
Regardless, a new Dive Bar - open from 11am to 5am - is what Nightspot Leisure, owners of the Milton Club, have proposed for a new bar and nightclub in the Northern Quarter.
The London-based company - owned by Vincent Braine - has submitted a licence application for Plaintree House at 21-31 Oldham Street, at the back end of Sachas Hotel and Bar Wave.
Talk about a dive...
Secondly, it appears Deansgate is set to welcome a new wine and cocktail bar (name to be confirmed).
G&T Leisure, based out of Little Peter Street, have put forward plans to take on 2 South King Street - a vacant unit (formerly William Hill, pictured above) wedged betwixt La Vina and South nightclub just off Deansgate.
So there you have it, a late-night dive bar for Northern Quarter and a wine bar for Deansgate... and the world was still once more.
Applications for both are subject to approval by the City Council.
