NETWORK Rail and Muse Developments are developing plans for a new £150m 600,000 sq ft mixed-use scheme right by the £43m refurbished Victoria station.

The target completion date is 2021

The New Victoria development will occupy a 2.5 acre site owned by Network Rail on Corporation Road currently used as a surface car park. The scheme will include an eight storey 150,000 sq ft office and two residential towers of 17 and 22 storeys comprising 475 flats.

The development also includes ground floor restaurant, retail and leisure space with JLL and GVA appointed letting agents. Architects Sheppard Robson have designed the new scheme.

The Grade II-listed Victoria Station - first opened in 1844 - was voted the UK's worst station back in 2009, but will soon become one of the North's major interchanges as part of the government's wider £560m Northern Hub project.

A detailed planning application should be submitted by Q4 2015, with work expected to begin in late-2016. The target completion date is 2021.
