LIVING Ventures chief Tim Bacon has announced plans to open the group's eleventh venue in Manchester city centre, bringing Red Door - Liverpool and Chester’s popular late night bar - to Manchester’s Deansgate in June.
...all the ladies were chasing Giggs and ignoring poor Becks
Teaming up with long-time business partners Dave Hinds and Lee Lynch, Bacon will launch the new 250-cacpacity 2800 sq ft subterranean bar beneath Living Ventures’ Botanist venue following a £350k refit.
Lynch, partner at Red Door, said: “Following the huge success of our venues in Chester and Liverpool, we are delighted to bring Red Door to Manchester.
“Our intention is to make it one of the best bars around, with highly trained bartenders and live music.
“It will hopefully make a significant contribution to the return of a positive and thriving bar scene at that end of Deansgate.”
The new opening represents a homecoming for the trio, as Red Door will occupy the site of their notorious debut venue, JW Johnsons.
“In the mid-nineties, JW Johnsons was the sophisticated choice in a city that still seemed to have an awful lot of Yates Wine Lodges,” recalls Confidential Editor-at-Large, Jonathan Schofield.
“It was also a place in which, alongside various TV faces, journos and famous musicians, I once found a young Giggs enjoying a sneaky beer with Beckham. I bet Alex F didn't know.
"All the ladies were chasing Giggs too, ignoring poor Beckham," continues Schofield.
We doubt Giggsy will attend this one...
Red Door will open for seven days a week (8pm t 2am) at 78 Deansgate from June 2016.
