MANCHESTER235 has just announced details of a new live music night for Manchester. Called Northern Sessions, it will bring together the region's best new bands and singer-songwriters in a three act line-up.
The first Northern Sessions on Sunday 27 May kicks off with Death To The Strange – five Manchester lads who have supported Gomez and James on their way up. With sharp, philosophical songs and folky harmonies, they're one to watch.
The SunsThey'll be followed by acoustic indie-rock act Missed You At The Show. Influenced by Biffy Clyro, Paramore and The Killers, their sound is defined by infectious guitar melodies and some sublime harmonies.
The final act is garage rock band The Suns who name the Brian Jones Town Massacre and Johnny Cash amongst their heroes. They got a big thumbs up from Clint Boon for their 'Surf Nightmare' track and are expected to provide a blistering set to end the live music part of the night.
DJ Chris Boden will takeover then, keeping the music going till late.
Manchester235 might not be the first venue you think of when someone says 'indie-rock night' but Northern Sessions looks set to change that. Go along and show your support.
Northern Sessions, in association with Mancunian Matters, takes place at Manchester235 in the Great Northern Warehouse, 2 Watson Street, on Sunday 27 May at 8pm. It's £5 in advance or £7 at the door. Buy tickets here.
