The team behind The Pen & Pencil have eyes on Stevenson Square
Confidential has word that Stevenson Square – the epicentre of new Northern Quarter openings in recent years – is set to welcome yet another exciting new venue later this year.
Dan Pollard, the owner of popular nearby bar and restaurant The Pen & Pencil and former owner of The Violet Hour in Didsbury, has confirmed with Confidential plans to launch a new venue in the square, subject to planning and licensing approval.
The as-yet-unnamed venue will include a new cocktail bar and restaurant spread over two floors in the former Flawless photography studios, next door to celebrity hairstylists Reuben Wood.
The venture will be the latest in a raft of new openings planned for the square, including Flok, a sherry bar from the team behind West Didsbury’s Folk bar, and the reinvention of the unsightly Habib House by Mark Andrew Developments (MAD) – who run the adjoining Fitzgerald, Rosylee and Hula bars.
Pollard was reluctant to release too many details before the application had been approved by the council, but told Confidential he was 'looking forward to adding to Northern Quarter's rich mix of food and drink venues with something completely new'.
