Andrew Nutter, Simon Shaw and Sean Sutton will prepare a three-course meal for Hospitality Action’s event on 25 June
When you’ve been helping people for 180 years, a little horsing around is in order: that’s why Hospitality Action is hosting its first ever polo day this month, with the support of three leading North West chefs.
Hospitality Action was founded in 1837 and offers a crucial lifeline to people in the hospitality trade, from those suffering illness and poverty to isolated retirees. Known for popular calendar fixtures, the charity is now taking its gastronomic connections into Little Budsworth for an afternoon of high-end dining and equestrian entertainment.
The inaugural polo event will take place at Cheshire Polo Club on Sunday 25 June, beginning with a Laurent-Perrier La Cuvee Champagne and canapé reception on the lawns (haw haw) before lunch is prepared.
The three-course feast, including half a bottle of wine per person, comes courtesy of award-winning chef Andrew Nutter (of Nutters and The Bird at Birtle), Simon Shaw (of El Gato Negro, the only Manchester restaurant to receive a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2017) and Sean Sutton (Head Chef at The Alderley Restaurant, Alderley Edge Hotel - one of few places regionally to hold three AA rosettes).
After polishing that lot off, guests will then watch a fast-paced polo match, The Henbury Cup, before finishing up with afternoon cream tea in the marquee. No doubt everyone will be feeling a bit sozzled by this point but, true to form, Hospitality Action has considered this too - partnering with selected hotels to offer special rates for the night.
Guests also receive an annual social membership package for the Cheshire Polo Club, worth £50, which includes entry for a car and up to four people to watch polo every weekend throughout the 2017 season; as well as free entry to The Wirral Ladies and National 6 Goal Tournaments.

We hope this will become an annual event to add to our ever growing calendar of fundraising events in the North.”
Tickets to the polo day on 25 June are £85 per person or £800 for a table of ten
