Berlin-style basement bar to launch in December in the Northern Quarter
A new bar from the team behind The Pen & Pencil will open on 30 November off Stevenson Square.
The Honey Trap Club is 'designed for uncomplicated fun, with no airs and graces.' It promises to offer good European beers, reinvented classic cocktails and dancing until the early hours, and is inspired by the derelict buildings transformed into bars and clubs in Berlin.
Above Honey Trap Club will be BAB, an all-day, 60-cover restaurant with an open chargrill kitchen serving gourmet kebabs.
The venue will be rough around the edges, with reclaimed furniture, graffiti in the bathrooms, exposed brick and LED lights. Like its counterparts in Berlin, there will be no bells and whistles, and no dress code.
The bar team will be reviving classic cocktail gems and re-imagined retro classics such as Vesper Martinis and Between the Sheets.
During the week, it will be a place to wind-down over a chilled drink or a game of table football. When the weekend arrives, the tempo will rise with Manchester’s top hip-hop DJs playing until 3am.
Kevin Connor of The Pen & Pencil said, “The team have spent a lot of time in Berlin and love the bar scene there, so we have created Honey Trap Club with it in mind. We wanted to create something that had a different feel to the rest of the venues in the Northern Quarter to continue the growth of Manchester’s nightlife scene.”
The team at The Pen & Pencil have taken the two-floor space at 14 Little Lever Street in Stevenson Square and will open two different venues there within the next few weeks. Above Honey Trap Club will be BAB, an all-day, 60-cover restaurant with an open chargrill kitchen serving gourmet kebabs.
Honey Trap Club is open four days a week from 4pm Wednesday to Saturday. The bar will be open until 12pm on a Wednesday, 1am on a Thursday, and 3am on a Friday and Saturday.
