THE ever-popular Levenshulme Market has announced plans to start a new series of monthly markets in Northern Quarter's Stevenson Square.

On Sunday 15 March there'll be 30 stalls pitched-up between 11am and 4pm with parts of Hilton Street and Stevenson Square closed off to traffic.
During the pilot market scheme there'll also be markets on Sunday 19 April and Sunday 17 May.
If the markets prove to be a success, they could be continued into the summer.
The square will accommodate stalls selling a range of goods to complement the existing Northern Quarter retail offer – including food produce, vintage clothes, modern crafts, design, homewares and books.
With trading space offered first to Northern Quarter businesses, the aim of the markets is to showcase local, independent traders, then later open up more independent traders from further across Manchester.

Grey Stevenson Square will be lifted by Sunday markets
For the first market on Sunday 15 March, the Levenshulme team have booked in a bumper line-up of food traders, with street food from the likes of Chinese Jian bing, Polish dumplings and a Jamaican BBQ courtesy of Northern Quarter's Soup Kitchen canteen and bar.
Shoppers can enjoy their lunch in an outdoor seating area, with music laid on by Leonard Skully Records (from the team behind NQ’s Kraak venue), before heading back into the market for some shopping.
Some of Levenshulme’s best-loved traders will be making the trip into town, including Winter Tarn Farm, selling organic cheese, eggs and butter (as supplied to Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume), Manchester Veg Boxes with their organic fruit and veg, locally farmed meat from Savin Hill Farm, bread and wine from Bakerie and ales from the Tatton Brewery.

The move signals further growth for Levenshulme Market, which was first launched as a social enterprise in 2013 with a monthly market on the train station car park in Levenshulme.
In 2014 the market started operating weekly on Saturdays and was recently named the 'best local artisan market in the region' by Marketing Manchester in the process.
Earlier this month the team revealed plans to fund £15,000-worth of innovation and entrepreneurship projects in Levenshulme – using profits earmarked as part of their remit as a social enterprise.
