MOROCCO is coming to Altrincham. Myriad will open its doors on The Downs in Altrincham on Friday 4 April.

Myriad will be also introduce a selection of Moroccan ladies who will create a wide range of purely authentic and specialist tagine dishes

This is how they describe themselves.

'Myriad will be introducing a menu infused with sweetness and blended with spices - an innovative combination of Tagine dishes, a myriad of couscous dishes, succulent slow cooked meat and aromatic poultry.

'Authentic Moroccan fish dishes including fresh sardines, lime infused Tiger Prawns and hand dived scallops. Mouth-watering sweets and pastries, lemon curd cheesecake, orange and almond cake drizzled with honey and vanilla clotted cream. Our fabulous Mezze platters are created for two people – food to enjoy and to share.

'One of Myriad’s signature sweets will be Spice Cream – an intriguing blend of ice cream and spices – an incredible taste created to a secret family recipe – only the brave will taste it.'

The interior will be themed to meet the food, arranged round a central courtyard, as is the case with the posh houses in the Mother country. There are promises of leather banquettes, Moroccan lanterns and highlights in silver and gold -  like George Michael's hair back in the day. 

The owners are Mouloud and Joanne who already have a place in Bolton. 

A mystyifying paragraph in the press release reads: 'Dishes will include locally sourced products and whilst the Head Chef Ahmed will oversee the main menu, Myriad will also introduce a selection of Moroccan ladies who will create a wide range of purely authentic and specialist tagine dishes – as only they know how to blend the secret herbs and spices.'

Eh...'introduce Moroccan ladies'? 

Anyway with taster menus for adults and kids plus a ground floor bar it all sounds grand and we'll be into review a couple of weeks into April.

Myriad loses marks over one aspect of its pre-opening publicity. It mentions a 'discreet VIP area'. The first rule of bar and restaurant opening is never mention VIP areas in Greater Manchester because there's a rule of nature in this part of the world that people who require VIP treatment are people you never want to meet.
