OH CALM down PR people and think about it would you?

Infamous Diner will have a retro 1950s' feel and serve up classic diner food

You can't send us a press release that reads 'Manchester's First Retro American Diner' when everybody knows that's a fib.

How long have we had TGI Fridays? Then there was that Fatty Arbuckles and even a chrome trailer on Trafford Road where the Tesco Express presently sits - the name of which slips our minds. And what the hell were the original Wimpy bars? And given the memorabilia and their general American-ness what are Almost Famous and Five Guys...

That said Confidential wishes independent bar group, MAD Ltd, the best of luck with their new place, Infamous Diner, in Basil Chambers on the Northern Quarter fringe. This is due to open in July with a name (and a location) perhaps a bit too close to the very, very successful and aforementioned Almost Famous.

Back to the press release.

'Infamous Diner will have a retro 1950s' feel and serve up classic diner food, the American way; with big flavours, big plates and service with a smile. The new diner will have capacity for 80 along with a cocktail bar, which will be open until late.'

Mark Andrew, managing director says: “We wanted to bring something new and exciting to Manchester, not just another burger joint. Infamous Diner promises to be just that - not only in bringing all the flavours of American food to the table, but the food-focused fun atmosphere and overall experience to boot.”

As for that press release title, 'Manchester's First Retro American Diner', Confidential is looking forward to many more: 'First Independent Coffeeshop For the Northern Quarter', 'First Living Ventures Venue For Spinningfields', 'First Gay Bar For The Village'.
