ALMOST exactly two years ago Confidential got word of movement over at the old Masonic Hall (1929) on Bridge Street.

Vision Developments had forged grand plans for a £7m renovation of the Grade II-listed limestone building, rebranded as Manchester Hall, with a series of stylish bars, restaurants, roof terraces and event spaces.
Then everything went quiet. Confidential assumed the scheme had hit the buffers.
Apparently not.
It says here that the development is soon to be GO, GO, GO with a new car garage-themed pop-up (what else?) opening from Saturday 3 December to the end of April.
Located in the building’s former garage space (directly opposite the entrance to Manchester House), staff dressed in mechanic’s overalls will serve punters cocktails such as the Spark Plug, Anti-Freeze and Throttle n Piston (and presumably charge three times the going rate for a real authentic experience).
The interior will also boast a garage theme, with fixtures and fittings made of old headlights and grills, licence plates plastered across the walls and a few choice pages of The Daily Sport pinned up in the bogs.
The bar will have a capacity for 120 people, and will also cater for private dos up to 80 people.
Vision Developments owner, Stephen Cliff, said:
“We were occupying what was a former garage space so we thought we’d have a bit of fun with the theme – especially as it’s only here for a few months. We’re aiming to be a bit of light relief and give people a chance to come down, have a few drinks and have a real laugh in a bar that’s not taking itself too seriously.”
Vision are expected to reveal more about Manchester Hall and its new tenants in the new year.
Garage will open from Saturday 3 December until the end of April.
You can win a £50 bar tab at the new pop-up by following the bar and sharing a post on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook (all @GarageBarMCR)
