Free cocktails at Don Giovanni
THE guys at Manchester’s oldest independent Italian eating and drinking establishment Don Giovanni aren’t ones to rest on their laurels, and their latest innovation is a brand-new cocktail list with a range you could expect to find in a typical Milanese restaurant.
And to celebrate the new menu – which takes you from aperitivo to digestivo – the Don Giovanni bar is giving away 200 free cocktails from 5pm on Thursday 15 June.
The Peychaud Aperitivo Fizz replaces the better-known Aperol Spritz, combining Peychaud’s, Prosecco and soda for a sweet and fresh long drink with a hint of bitterness. Meanwhile, we’re partial to the Limonata Spritz, a kind of grown-up lemonade combining Broker’s Gin, Chartreuse, lemonade-flavoured San Pellegrino, fresh sage and Don Giovanni’s homemade limoncello, created in house by head bartender Artyom Motohin.
Or try the Soda-Menta, mixing soda and a squeeze of lemon with minty liqueur Branca Mentha, from Milanese distillery Branca, whose global ambassador Nicola Olianas has helped Artyom to create Don Giovanni’s new cocktail menu.
Also available on Thursday will be a variety of new gin and tonics. Standouts include the Manchester G&T using gin from city-centre distillery Three Rivers, gin-soaked apricots and rosemary, and the Italiano, which uses family-made Italian gin Poli Marconi 46, rosemary, dried grapefruit and Mediterranean tonic for a true taste of Italy.
Drinks are on a first come first served basis, if you would like to make a night of it and book a table too, click here.
Please note: Free cocktails are available at the bar only.
