New service - available in New York, London and Sydney - declares war on rubbish desk lunches
Research has revealed that over a third of Mancunians currently have the same old thing for lunch at least three times per week. Despite this, 44% of those asked admitted that they are left disappointed by two of those lunches every week.
A new lunch subscription service, launched in Manchester on Tuesday 12 September, promises to revolutionise work day lunches by offering members the chance to skip the queues and pick up some of the city’s best food at an affordable price.
MealPal was founded in 2016 by Mary Biggins and Katie Ghelli and has helped to facilitate over two million lunch reservations since its launch. It is currently available in eleven cities including London and New York City, San Francisco, Toronto, Sydney and from today, Manchester.
Each restaurant offers one of their signature dishes per day
Their goal is to team up with some of Manchester’s leading restaurants to provide a fast and efficient way to get delicious and affordable lunch every day.
Each restaurant offers one of their signature dishes per day - the same quality and portion size as you would get if you ordered in person.
Participating Manchester restaurants include: Salvi's, Beastro, Pasta Factory, Buca di Pizza, Oké Poké, La Bandera and Kettlebell Kitchen - more here.
Dan Houghton, CEO of Chilango said, "MealPal is a work of genius. It's worked really well for us in London and we think the people of Manchester are going to love it."
How does it work?
- MealPal works within a thirty day cycle from the day you sign up and members can choose from two different subscriptions; ‘Lunch a Lot’ allows customers to order up to 20 meals at only £4.39 per meal, while ‘Lunch a Bunch’ gives customers access to up to twelve meals and works out at £4.79 per meal.
- MealPal doesn’t require a long-term commitment and, after creating a MealPal account, members can log in and reserve lunch from any participating restaurant from 5pm the night before until 9:30am on the day. The subscription covers 100% of the cost of each meal, so there are no additional charges when you pick it up.
- To reserve your lunch, log on to the MealPal Manchester website, tap on the meal image, select your pickup time and tap to reserve. Lunch will be ready and waiting for you at your designated pick up time. Just tell the restaurant you are with MealPal, skip the queue, and enjoy your lunch.
To celebrate their Manchester launch, MealPal are hosting an exclusive tasting evening on September 12th; First Floor, Accelerate Places, 101 Princes Street, M1 6DD.
Anyone who loves good food and needs to up their lunchtime game is invited to sample food from some of MealPal’s restaurant partners. They will also be offering a free MealPal trial. If you’d like to attend, RSVP here.
