CHRISTMAS shopping in the Big Apple? Manchester meets Manhattan at brand-new Manahatta, with its totally Instagrammable Art Deco-inspired black and gold loft-style backdrop and NYC-inspired food and drinks menus.

We love the Dreams On Tap idea – draught Espresso Martinis and Porn Star Martinis are the perfect accompaniment to your big night out. There’s also an extensive list of classic and house cocktails (try the pleasingly alliterative Cucumber Cooler or Geisha Girl, for starters) and mocktails to take your pick from, freshly shaken or stirred by the award-winning team. Grab the Manahatta Spritz speciality – Tanqueray gin, Campari, lemon, Manahatta cordial and grapefruit soda – for just £5 every day between 4pm and 7pm.The Deansgate bar’s own happy hour, it’s called theManahatta Social, when you can also enjoy Prosecco for £20 a bottle and 4-4-£15 on bottles of the appropriately named Brooklyn lager.

Keep it elegant by lining those stomachs before hitting the booze too hard – there’s plenty to choose from food-wise, with all appetites and tastes catered for, and New York-inspired dishes including a range of burgers and dogs and classic mac & cheese. Food is served until 9.30pm every day, so fab if you’re peckish later on, and start from 10am at weekends and 11am Monday to Thursday. Brunches are a big thing at Manahatta. Weekdays until 4pm, there’s a special brunch menu taking in the brand-new breakfast powerbowl for perfect fuelling-up options or, at the other end of the scale, the “I’ll Have What She’s Having” waffle, dripping with Nutella spread, cream and toasted hazelnuts. Just try and stop us! On weekends, check out the Bottomless Brunch, with food and drink for £26.95 a head – it’s made for keeping out of the cold and has “lazy day” written all over it.
