The Mayfair restaurant is swimming to Manchester - here's what we know ahead of its launch on October 12th
Probably the most anticipated launch of the year, Sexy Fish is due to make waves in Manchester with its third award-winning installation.
The 152-seater restaurant, set to open on 12th October, comes from Caprice Holdings - the group behind London’s favourite restaurants including Scott’s, Daphne’s and Bacchanalia to name but a few. Though this is the third Sexy Fish to open in a place beginning with ‘M’ - Mayfair (London), Miami, and now Manchester - it’s the first of its kind in the north and expects to draw foodies looking for the kind of opulence you’d find in the capital to the Spinningfields area.
The show-stopping restaurant will take centre stage in a landmark building - 2 Spinningfields Square, the old Emporio Armani store - and will feature striking interiors including three giant sculptures incorporating creatures from under the sea, specially created for the space by Damien Hirst, as well as bespoke ‘Fish Lamps’ from world-famous designer and architect Frank Gehry.
The bar will be a real asset to the restaurant, featuring a glowing pink onyx and glass facade against a backdrop of a cascading waterfall. No expense is spared and even the bathrooms have been given the full ‘Sexy Fish makeover’, donning ocean motifs, a hand-carved pink onyx vanity and mosaic murals depicting underwater scenes.
As well as having room for over 150 covers in the main restaurant, there will be a 45 seater (60 for standing receptions) private dining room known as the ‘Tropical Reef Room’ which has its own picturesque aquarium of exotic fish, and a bar area that can accommodate an extra 18 guests.
Open seven days a week for lunch, dinner, tasting menus, cocktails and late-night entertainment, Sexy Fish will provide an opulent Asian-inspired dining destination with expertly crafted dishes curated by internationally acclaimed Chef Director, Bjoern Weissgerber.
Bespoke dishes, designed only for Sexy Fish Manchester, include Chicken Ume & Shisho Gyoza (£12.80), a Crispy Lemon Sole with Wasabi Dip & Ponzu (£36.60), Sea Bream Ceviche (£15.20), and Salmon & Sweetcorn Signature Maki (£12.60).
Those looking for an extra special tipple to accompany their visit will be impressed by the restaurant’s champagne collection; set to be the largest in the country (really?) with 75 different varieties to choose from.
As well as unique creations from the Trinity Menu - a collection of award-winning cocktails that have already made their mark on London and Miami - there will be four bespoke drinks designed exclusively for Sexy Fish Manchester including the Banana & Cacao (£13.00), featuring Haku vodka, banana and cacao, and Watermelon & Basil (£12.00), with Grey Goose Vodka, watermelon, basil, Campari, and Tio Pepe.
Guests can also enjoy entertainment from world class international performers and DJs alongside a late-night menu, available on Thursdays (from 26 October), Fridays and Saturdays (from 13 October).
