CHESTER’S Opera Grill makes a stunning venue for lunch if you’re out shopping with friends or an ideal way to round off your day out.

A perfect combination of traditional French bistro-cooking and Oriental citrus freshness

The restaurant is situated in a former Methodist church on Pepper Street and after an impressive restoration it is quickly becoming a real start on Chester’s food circuit.

The lunch and early evening menu is available Monday to Saturday from midday until 6pm and all day on Sundays.

It’s a tempting collection of favourites with some enticing Asian influences too. Starters take in everything from wood-roast baby beets with creamy buffalo ricotta to Japanese-style dishes like chicken yakitori and tataki yellowfin tuna with its refreshing tastes of grapefruit, ginger and soy.

For mains, you can’t ignore the steaks. The meat counter showcases beautiful cuts, pink, marbled and full of flavour. You’ll find both onglet and sirloin on the lunch and early evening menu, which are amazing accompanied with triple-cooked chips or even charred broccoli as a healthier alternative.

Teriyaki salmon is another divine Eastern dish whilst baby spinach and comet cheese tart is proof that vegetarians will be very happy with Opera Grill.

You’ll certainly want to squeeze in a dessert whilst you’re there because Opera Grill’s concoctions are nothing short of heavenly. The crème brulée with raspberry and yuzu is a perfect combination of traditional French bistro-cooking and Oriental citrus freshness. The chocolate delice and the iced banana profiteroles are two more stand-out puds.
