Brioche, lobster and caviar are all part of this restaurant's decadent doughnut

Manchester's Bull & Bear opened in 2019 and quickly established itself as one for the discerning and dapper diner who can't eat their dinner without having sports on the telly in the background - even in a restaurant.

With TV chef Tom Kerridge and his wallet full of Michelin stars overseeing the kitchen, it's never going to make a list of the best places for students on a budget. But the food is excellent, I can confirm, having visited a few times including for my review of The Bull & Bear when it first opened.

Kerridge's signature pub grub, minimised and zhuzhed up suits the grandeur of the old stock exchange dining room now part of Gary Neville's Stock Exchange Hotel.

In case you missed the memo, this week is National Doughnut Week and we've put together a round-up of Manchester's best doughnuts that provides something for every type of honey monster. But if like me, you're more a starters than desserts kinda gal, The Bull & Bear has a little something for ya. You'll need deep pockets though.

This savoury doughnut special - not much bigger than a golf ball - features a lobster brioche doughnut with green apple and avruga caviar and will set you back £19.50. Before you fall off your chair in horror, Marcus Rashford's pal Tom Kerridge is keen to let you know he will be donating £2 from every sale of the dish in his restaurant to The Children’s Trust, the UK's leading charity for children with brain injury and neurodisability.  Of course, you could also choose to donate as much money as you like to the above charity (or any other) whether you want the doughnut or not.

Manchester's most expensive doughnut from The Bull & Bear

If you can afford Manchester's most expensive doughnut, be quick because it's only available until 18 July.

If you can't get involved in this one, we recently tucked into a game-changing lamb and goats cheese pie at the launch of Manchester Food and Drink fest and The Bull & Bear will be doing one of the many exciting restaurant pop-ups this year as the festival finally returns after the hospitality industry's annus horribilus.
