From funding safer sex packs to rainbow capitalism, the protest was against pride this year
Pride is a protest. That's how it began with American gay liberation activist Marsha P Johnson and the Stonewall riots in 1960s New York and that is what should arguably be at the heart of every Pride event following in its footsteps.
There has been an enormous amount of controversy around this year's Pride and while we always support and celebrate the main event, we are also committed to showing alternative views. Our regular "100 photos from Manchester Pride" feature will be published shortly but first, we wanted to share some photos from the protest this year.
