A Cinematic Spectacle for the Senses will pair films and scrans
An iconic duo are coming to Manchester but you’re going to have to wait until February 2023.
That’s right, everyone’s favourite moving picture format experience, the cinema, is teaming up with everyone’s favourite nourishment and calorie building pursuit, eating, for a one-night-only immersive culinary experience. Obviously it’s a bit fancier than that.
We have placed each of the senses at the heart while curating an action-packed and amazing tasting menu
The Woodford Reserve sponsored "A Cinematic Spectacle for the Senses" will put on three intimate screenings alongside a paired tasting menu of small plates and cocktails. The dishes and cocktails will arrive at pivotal moments in the film to bring scenes to life and create an immersive film-watching experience.
Indie blockbuster with a difference
Taking place on 18 February at Ducie Street Warehouse’s 36-seat Mini Cini, A Cinematic Spectacle for the Senses will play host to three screenings of Everything Everywhere All At Once (2022), an American absurdist comedy-drama. The film is written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (known collaboratively as the Daniels) and stars Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr., James Hong, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
The story follows an ageing Chinese immigrant swept up in a crazy sci-fi adventure. The film is indie studio A24’s highest-grossing film of all time. Fun Fact: the lead was originally written for Jackie Chan.
Out with the popcorn, in with the small plates
But what of the drinks and snacks you say? Well, here’s where it gets immersive. Moments throughout the film will be channelled into food and drink with tickets including a multi-course tasting menu and three paired Woodford Reserve cocktails. The drinks and cocktails on the day will be prepared by TĀTĀ Eatery in collaboration with Ducie Street Warehouse.
Self-described “nomadic food jedis”, TĀTĀ Eatery (Ana Gonçalves and Zijun Meng) is a private events and consultancy, which started as a street food venture. Foodie residencies across London soon followed before two permanent spots. TĀTĀ Eatery is known for its blending of Chinese and Mediterranean flavours, as well as its sandos and "ricewiches".
Joseph Hall, Woodford Reserve UK Brand Ambassador says:
“Woodford Reserve are so proud to present A Cinematic Spectacle for the Senses, an experience that is so much more than a whiskey tasting. We have placed each of the senses at the heart while curating an action-packed and amazing tasting menu where each sip and bite uses the science of flavour and creates truly unique moments.”
Tickets are priced at £40 (which includes a multi-course tasting menu and three paired cocktails) and the screenings are on Saturday 18 February 2023 at 1:30pm, 5pm and 8:15pm. Booking is understandably advised. Full ticket details can be found here.
