THE Second Floor Restaurant and Brasserie at Harvey Nichols are changing. The two spaces are merging and the walls are tumbling down.
Our hospitality proposition will be centred around contemporary, all-day premium casual dining
Iain Mackenzie, Store Director, told Confidential: "The Second Floor at Harvey Nichols Manchester is evolving. From mid-May, our hospitality proposition will be centred around contemporary, all-day premium casual dining which will cater for our customers from breakfast, brunch and lunch through to afternoon tea and dinner."
Confidential popped in recently and although the changes hadn't been fully completed the opened out, airy and light-filled appeal of the new space was very evident. The refurbishment makes the old brasserie space far more attractive although some will question the loss of the stand alone fine dining restaurant.
The good news is the food on our visit was as accomplished as ever. The snacks, pictured above, of oysters, chipolatas and feta parcels were all exquisitely presented and full of flavour. The double height windows giving a view of Exchange Square produced perfect light within which to admire the food. A note of caution here though, a new menu is about to launch - we're told it's imminent - and will be substantially different from the present offering. The mew menu has been designed specially to match the fresh approach in Harvey Nichols.
Mackenzie again: "We are developing an exciting, exclusive and stylish all-day menu based on customer preference which, combined with our exquisite fashion and beauty edit, will offer guests a stylish and luxury retail and dining experience."
