For two weeks, the zoo will be transformed with giant pumpkins, spellbinding stories and spooky family-friendly activities to enjoy

Looking for something fun to do with the family this October half term? Chester Zoo is celebrating Halloween in style with two weeks of spooky activities and themed installations.

From Saturday 18 October to Sunday 2 November, visitors will discover giant pumpkins, spellbinding stories and family activities dotted around the zoo. Spot a series of giant pumpkin sculptures, join in with campfire stories and dine on autumn flavours along the way.

Most activities are included with zoo admission. See highlights below: 

  • Find the bat pumpkins Spot the bat pumpkins located around the zoo, then take a trip over to the Fruit Bat Forest where you’ll find Seba’s short-tailed and Rodrigues fruit bats.
  • Campfire storytelling

Gather around the campfire for myths and legends, plus a create-your-own adventure with a hedgehog preparing for hibernation. 

  • Pumpkin painting
    Get creative with pumpkin painting, or add a Halloween twist with themed face painting (additional costs apply).
