Old tunnels piled high with barrels and wooden presses are all part of the charm that attracts wine tourists to Spain.

Yllera found a range of ancient wineries dating back to the fourteenth century which interconnected to form a labyrinth. Now visitors are led through more than 1km of tunnels, learning about Greek myth, wine and culture.

In each room they are told about Theseus and the minotaur and each passage is compared to a different Yllera wine through its characteristics, qualities and the ageing process. It’s certainly a unique way of understanding Yllera wines.

You don’t have to travel to Spain to enjoy finding out more about Grupo Yllera’s denomination of origin wines. Join founder Carlos Yllera at Ibérica in Spinningfields on Wednesday 15 June and explore the world of Castilian wine.
