IF you've wandered through Leftbank in Spinningfields this summer, you've probably noticed things have picked up a touch.
Spinningfields developers Allied London recently started knocking-up al fresco canopies for fun...
Buoyed by beefy proposals for the nearby St John's Quarter, the XYZ Building and New Bailey over the water (plus the horde of potential punters they'll bring), Leftbank has transformed from windy Spinningfields backwater to humming food and drink destination following the launch of Scene Indian street kitchen, the Dockyard pub and The Kitchens' mini-diners this year.
And they're not finished there. Chef David Gale plans to launch a new restaurant above Scene, while Brazilian beer and cocktail bar, Maloca, is soon to open in a beachshack installation that looks not unlike something from those Fosters ads featuring double dingos Brad and Dan. Hooroo.
WHAT IS SHISHA? A Shisha, Hookah, or Hubble Bubble is a Middle Eastern water-pipe in which fruit flavoured tobacco is burnt using coal, passed through an elaborate vessel and inhaled through a hose.
Still not content, Spinningfields developers Allied London recently started knocking-up al fresco canopies all over the show - one of which Scene have transformed into something quite spectacular.
Designed by Northern Quarter creative studio No Chintz, the new Scene Veranda features lush flora, Moroccan lanterns, layabout loungers and ornate Hookah pipes on which to while away the hours knocking back Indian pickles and chuffing on the hubble bubble
...don't worry, it's all above board, honest.
Scene will be launching a special 'Veranda menu' at the official launch from Thursday 27 August, and Confidential will be running a 50% promo at Scene throughout the soft launch period between Thursday 20 and Wednesday 26 August - apply here.
