The Million Pound Menu winners are back with a pop-up at Northern Monk
If you have been missing your Cuban street food fix since the FINCA pop-up shut up shop in Manchester and headed back over to its new home in Liverpool's Duke Street Market, we have good news – the FINCA foursome are joining forces with Northern Monk Refectory MCR for a November-long kitchen takeover, starting today.
Customers can enjoy new dishes and a beer and food pairing event
It’s been over a year since the Million Pound Menu winners left Spinningfields following a ‘hugely successful residency’ at Artisan, and now the team of four friends – Joe, Michael, Oli and Daniel – are back in Manchester for one month only. During the FINCA residency at the Northern Quarter branch of Northern Monk, customers can enjoy new dishes and a beer and food pairing event.
Having been creating their own take on traditional Cuban recipes and Latin-inspired dishes since the summer of 2016, FINCA featured on the Fred Sirieix-fronted BBC and Netflix show in 2018, showcasing dishes such as the hearty eponymous Cubano grilled sandwich with gammon and gouda. This will be on the menu during this latest residency, along with a number of new dishes, including sticky chorizo bites of pan-fried chorizo, honey, garlic and Manchego, plus various vegetarian and vegan options. Sweet potato fries will feature, tossed in a secret house seasoning and topped with sour cream and a chilli and coriander dressing, while sweets include cinnamon sugar-rolled doughnuts with vanilla ice cream, salted caramel sauce and honey spiced peanuts.
Oli Smith, chef and co-founder of FINCA, says: “We can’t wait to head back to Manchester and set up in the brilliant Northern Monk. We’re going to be back for a month this time so make sure you don’t miss out – there’s still plenty of time to come and grab a Cubano!”
FINCA’s pop-up will be a full-time operation with the food menu served seven days a week from noon until 9pm, from November 5th.
