Confidentials.com thinks this is a great idea and so do businesses along the street

Deansgate is currently undergoing a consultation about its future. Residents, visitors and other interested parties are being asked to comment on the direction of travel for this key city centre artery.

Evans Cycles will be introducing pedalos to its range of bicycles

Confidentials.com, exclusively, has learnt of the City Council’s preferred solution. This for the stretch of Deansgate between John Ryland’s Library and Peter Street to become a lido (see full image below). Many other locations in the UK have a lido, London, Bristol, Brighton, Bacup and so on: why not Manchester? The Deansgate site would make this ideal as it would, unlike those other locations, be right in the heart of the city centre, accessible to so many more people.

Confidentials.com have approached businesses and institutions along the proposed Deansgate site for the lido for comment. We found real excitement and optimism. Hawksmoor restaurant is preparing a special ‘Beach Chateaubriand’ at a 'discount' for deckchair loungers, John Rylands Library will roll out some of its priceless special collections for viewing by bathers, Blacks mountaining and hiking shop will now hire out swimwear and Evans Cycles will be introducing pedalos to its range of bicycles.

Given the nature of Manchester’s consultation process in which the city’s preferred solution always succeeds, this idea looks likely to win the day. If the decision is positive then the lido could be in place by spring 2024.

Confidentials.com thinks it’s a splendid proposal. The city has decided against car traffic in the city and is committed to achieve net zero carbon by 2.37pm on December 1, 2038, ice permitting. The lido idea will provide joy and recreation to locals and visitors alike. Bring it on we say.

Breaking news: Inverted tower 'cluster' proposed

Celebrated Manchester architects, Roger Hodder, Stephen Stephenson, Bernard Matthews, and 'Homer' Simpson, are behind a radical new idea that they believe will be “another Manchester first and a pioneering moment in worldwide building design”.

'Homer' Simpson, of celebrated Manchester architects, SimpsonHaugh said, “Instead of building tall towers, we’re going to take a huge area of scarcely used spare ground, commonly known as North Manchester, and build down. Imagine tall towers a similar height to the magnificent Deansgate Square I designed. Imagine a cluster of towers reaching 201m but inverted into the ground.

"This would prevent moaners going-on about high-rise residential accommodation," continued Simpson, "while providing tens of thousands of new homes. We'll probably go deep enough to reach the coal seams under the city and use the coal to provide energy for the buildings. It'd be a tidy solution in Manchester to achieving net zero carbon by 2038...eh...what? Doh!"
