Salt, lime, tequila… and a few ingredients you might not expect
IF you’re a margarita fan, go and experience what has officially been crowned the 'Best Margarita in Manchester' at Mexican restaurant and bar El Taquero. Their ‘Brisa de Aguacate’ margarita, which translates as 'avocado breeze', took the top prize in the annual Cuervo Tradicional Margarita Rumble competition.
Some of the best bars and bartenders in Manchester competed at the event, where winners were chosen by votes cast by the general public. El Taquero's creative and contemporary take on a classic margarita impressed the crowds with its punchy blend of cucumber, avocado and chilli.
The Cuervo Tradicional Margarita Rumble competition also celebrated the margarita fan’s drinking traditions with awards for 'Best End of Working Day Margarita' (won jointly by Tapeo & Wine and The Refinery), 'Best Summer BBQ Margarita' (won by El Taquero), and Best Weekend Brunch Margarita' (won by El Taquero).
El Taquero serves a range of margaritas, including a margarita of the day, a G&T margarita, frozen margaritas, classic margaritas, and carafes of margaritas. For tequila and mezcal, it's one of the best-stocked bars in the city. You'll find it in the Northern Quarter, on Back Turner Street.
