IT'S been suspiciously quiet at no.15 King Street.

No great loss here. Ed's never really fit the grand old dame of King Street

Back in April we confirmed Ed's Easy Diner, an American themed diner first opened in Soho over 25 years ago, had submitted plans for the fine Grade II-listed mock Tudor building - a former furniture, Jaeger and Monsoon store.

Builders were spotted in the unit, then left, then silence.

Seems there's been a fair bit of wrangling between Ed's and the council since plans were first put forward in October 2014, with Ed's finally chucking in the towel and packing off back to Park Lane.

Details about the withdrawal are scant, though there has been media chatter about a mooted sale of the business.

Ed's have refused to comment, however, property agent Lambert Smith Hampton have confirmed that the 5000 sq ft site is back on the market at £160,000 per annum. Ouch.

No great loss.

Ed's - with its wipe-clean red leather and bubblegum Americana - never really fit the grand old dame of King Street. And this now leaves a prime unit - on a street recently buoyed by the arrival of El Gato Negro and Quill - up for grabs.

Did we mention we'd recently spotted Russell Norman of London's genius Polpo roaming up and down King Street. Well, if you don't ask...
