SIR ALEX Ferguson has bought a share in Accrington Stanley.
Sir Alex did not comment on a potential conflict of interest should Accrington Stanley draw United in a cup competition, or suddenly start rising through the leagues.
The United manager invested in the League Two club as part of its long-term plan to issue shares to fans. The shares cost £100 each and can be bought in the club shop or online.
Stanley chief executive Rob Heys confirmed that Sir Alex will now receive one vote as an official shareholder should he attend the club’s next AGM, as he rushed to Man United’s training ground to present him with his share certificate.
Sir Alex said: “Everyone has heard of Accrington Stanley and I am so pleased to see a small community club flourishing during these times. Long may they continue to be an active and healthy member of the Football League.”

Tevez, who has not played for City since September, met a club doctor at the training ground yesterday to asses his fitness. The striker will return to training today but will not travel to Portugal with the first team tomorrow.

Whilst the 28-year-old can expect a hostile reception should he play again at the Etihad Stadium, at least his teammates are happy to see him return. Defender Joleon Lescott tweeted: “All the players are happy to have Carlos, Kolo, and Yaya back to help achieve our goal.”
Both of Manchester’s Premier League clubs travel to Europe to begin their Europa League campaigns on Thursday in what, contrary to the second tier European competition’s reputation, actually looks like a couple of handsome ties.

Filipe Morais smashed a shot in off the crossbar to give the Latics an early lead before Robbie Simpson extended the gap to two after a tidy volley.
Alex Cisak gave the visitors hope when a mistake allowed Cuvelier to pull one back for Walsall, but the goalkeeper made amends when he saved Nicholls’ spot kick after Grigg was fouled by Jean Mvoto in the area.
Oldham manager Paul Dickov said: “I know it's me being daft but we've got 20 games left and I want to try and win every single game."
Steven Schumacher’s late equaliser gave Bury a share of the points as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Chesterfield at Gigg Lane last night.
