Bespoke cakes and cocktails? Now this is OUR kind of chocolate bar

Visiting Ancoats is like being a kid in a sweet shop at the moment, excitedly scooping up new openings everywhere we turn. Handy, then, that the latest newcomer is award-winning independent chocolatier Cocoa Cabana, who are branching out from their Burton Road base.

From Wednesday 21st August, Murray Street visitors can expect the same homemade chocolates and extravagant cakes that West Didsbury has been enjoying since 2012.

The venue will turn into a laid-back late-night neighbourhood bar

Stunning bespoke celebration cakes will be available to order and made for special occasions, while the in-store gift shop will stock hand made treats including truffles, chocolate shards and flavoured slabs. There will also be a range of plants, candles and cards chosen from artisan suppliers. Chocolate-making workshops will also be available, along with cocktail-mixing classes – that’s right, Cocoa Cabana Ancoats is going to be a boozy affair.

At dusk, the venue will turn into a laid-back late-night neighbourhood bar; serving a carefully curated cocktail menu featuring the likes of salted caramel and chocolate martini alongside all the classics. A selection of beers, wines and soft drinks (including hot chocolate, of course) will also be on the menu.

As well as ending your day at Cocoa Cabana, you can also start it there, with fresh coffee and sweet and savoury breakfast dishes, including overnight oats and buttermilk pancakes. Cakes, pastries and sweet treats including gooey brownies will be available all day to eat in or take out, and there will be a selection of light lunch favourites plus homemade sharing boards.

Sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and award-winning salted caramel, and an assortment of housemade desserts and petits fours are included in the chocolate-lovers’ afternoon tea, while the chocolate platter includes a selection of mallows, fruit, pretzels, brownie pieces and other sweet treats to dip into freshly made and melted chocolate.

"With the addition of a late-night bar we can’t wait to open in the vibrant Ancoats neighbourhood," says Cocoa Cabana owner Sarah Gallacher, "and welcome our loyal customers and new faces in to join us for delicious chocolate treats and a cocktail or two."
