Five bewitching summer drinks at Manchester235
THE change in season brings a change in cocktail menu at Vega Lounge, the buzzing bar at the centre of Manchester235. The drinks were served by Tariq and the new cocktails were created by the talented team that capture the spirit of summer: light, fruity, cooling. These are beach-side and garden party classics, reinvented and reimagined for summer 2017.
We picked out five to snap and sip. You can get them at 2-for-1 every day from 4pm till 8pm.
The Melon Gumtini £8.95
Remember those long summer days spent popping Hubba Bubba and fishing out the bubblegum from the bottom of your Screwball cone? Imagine how much more fun it would have been with added gin. This is your childhood summer holidays in cocktail form: Midori melon liqueur, Gordon's gin, lemon, and bubble gum syrup. Dangerously delicious.
The Brandy Julep £8.95
The drink Blanche Dubois uses to cool herself in sultry classic A Street Car Named Desire, the Mint Julep deserves a place on any summer cocktail menu. Manchester235's take on it is based on the deep, smooth Remy Martin VSOP, muddled with mint, and lifted by lime juice and peach liqueur.
Chilli Chocolatto £8.95
Reminding us of ice-cream sundaes by the sea, this smooth, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate drink is like a Baileys for the sunny months. Mozart Chocolate Cream Liqueur is mixed with Smirnoff Vanilla Vodka, vanilla syrup and hot chocolate, with a garnish of red chilli.
Hendrick's Honey Apple £8.95
All the classic flavours of an English summertime come together in this elegant drink. Starring Hendrick's gin, elderflower, honey, cucumber and mint, it's been on the signature menu before and is back due to popular demand.
Vega Zombie £9.95
Another hit drink for Vega Lounge that's back on the menu. Their Zombie is a flaming tiki favourite made with four types of rum: Captain Morgan White, Havana Especial, Wray & Nephew, and Gosling. They're blended with apricot liqueur, pineapple and passion fruit. A fruity fast-track to fun.
