WHILST the rest of us wound down following last week’s National Burger Day celebration, one Manchester burger joint was preparing to wind up… for good.
This particular burger bus, with its ‘filthy’ sauce and 'sexy bovines' (is that legal?), always felt two years too late
Confidential understands that having recently closed for renovation works, Filthy Cow on Tib Lane will not be reopening.
That is, until a buyer is found.
Bosses behind the 72-cover burger restaurant, Steven and Lisa Higginbottom, are said to be looking for a quick sale of the business as fellow director and restaurant manager Jordan Gallimore departs to ‘focus on other business interests’.
Christie & Co state they are seeking offers in the region of £25,000 to quickly shift the leasehold.
Launched in the former Lounge Ten site in February 2015, Filthy Cow’s PR team (based in London, we might add) certainly didn’t scrimp on the hyperbole, promising to ‘change the face of dining in Manchester once and for all’, with ‘carnal burger desires’ indulged by ‘wild meat fantasies’.
And whilst there’s no denying they put together a decent patty, one of our favourites in fact, this particular burger bus, with its ‘filthy’ sauce and 'sexy bovines' (is that legal?), always felt two years too late... gimp cow, or no gimp cow.
Ashley Cobban, Business Agent at Christie & Co’s Manchester office, said the sale 'presents a fantastic opportunity for a new owner/operator to take over an already established and successful business and continue along its success, further increasing trade and profit.'
Meanwhile, the news is sure to stir up the doom-and-gloomers, with nearby restaurants such as Avalanche, Splendid Kitchen, Grinch, Bourbon & Black and Quill all winding up operations in the past few months.
