Discover the ideal spot for a relaxing evening meal in the heart of the city

A good quality, affordable hotel restaurant is often hard to come by - even more so in the centre of a big city like Manchester. Thankfully, Loom & Ladle Bistro at Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly has hit the nail on the head with its evening offering, providing contemporary dining in a stylish yet relaxed environment.

Open between 5pm and 9:30pm Monday to Saturday, the bistro serves up classic dishes with a modern twist, made with locally sourced ingredients for a high-quality and enjoyable dining experience.

Tastefully decorated with burnt orange leather banquettes, light wood furnishings, mood lightning and artwork with subtle nods to Manchester throughout, it's a restaurant that suits all occasions; after work gatherings, pre-theatre dinners, date nights, or just casual eats before heading off to one of the hotel’s comfy rooms for some R&R.

Dishes are very reasonably priced with starters available between £6-13, and mains from as little as £14, but the low price point doesn’t mean quality is compromised. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

Chef Thomas Gardner has curated a menu that showcases his 27 years of experience and expertise in the industry to find the best quality local produce and create beautifully presented, picture-perfect dishes that don’t just taste good but look good, too.

We highly recommend the braised pork cheek bon bon with blood orange puree and parsnip crisps to start - despite being quite a rich and meaty dish, the puree cuts through the stickiness of the pork cheek and provides a refreshing lift that cleanses your palate ready for the next course. It goes well with a nice glass of Merlot or one of the house cocktails.

Or, if you’re a fan of sushi and looking for something a little lighter to pair with a glass of white wine, the salmon nori with wasabi and artichoke is delicate, fresh, and melts almost instantaneously on the tongue.

As for mains, there’s plenty of options to choose from including vegan-friendly dishes like the salt baked celeriac with spinach and wild mushrooms, hearty traditional plates like potato hash with crispy pancetta, spinach and Bury black pudding, and date night favourites like 28-day aged sirloin British steak served with grilled mushrooms, confit tomato, chunky chips and peppercorn sauce.

Of course, no meal would be complete without dessert, so why not seal the deal with an indulgent sticky toffee pudding, oozing with toffee sauce and served with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream? Or, if that’s a little too rich for you after enjoying two decadent courses already, why not go for a light and delightful lavender panna cotta with strawberry soup?
