ICKLES Fancies make chocolates but you wouldn't know that from looking at some of their creations.
Eating them sends your senses flying – it looks like one thing but tastes like something else entirely
Steak and chips, a full English breakfast, a croissant. Eating them sends your senses flying – it looks like one thing but tastes like something else entirely. And if they weren't so beautiful, you'd want to devour them all in one go.
These mini works of chocolate art are the handiwork of Lucy Jasmine, chief chocolatier and owner of Ickles Fancies, which is based in Horwich. She crafts chocolates into all shapes and sizes from the whimsical, such as her chocolate baked beans, to the traditional, such as her made-to-order Easter Eggs filled with flavoured hearts.
She came to our attention after we saw her chocolate burgers at Elixir's opening night party. The bar also uses her chocolate creations as garnishes on some of their bespoke cocktails and ten o'clock treats. Her rum-soaked raisin scone accompanies the Cuppa Chai cocktail, and her mini strawberry cupcake is served with the Life Is Sweet cocktail.
Go and try one for yourself at Elixir on Deansgate – cocktails start from £8. And check out more of Lucy's creations on the Ickles Fancies Facebook page.
