IT'S been a good 2013, particularly if you’re often hungry. The reimagining of The French, the arrival of Manchester House and a smattering of celebrity chefs has set tongues wagging and streaming with salivation. The Manchester International Festival was a scorcher, Vogue’s Big Fashion Night Out set the city abuzz and there’s been a chap running around Manchester in a second-rate superhero costume being really, really nice to people.

This week Tunafish Media and Forever Manchester played host to the launch of the first comic book at Northern Quarter’s best trendy underground hideaway venue 2022NQ
People scrambled for twitter to report sightings of a black and red caped crusader do-gooding around town, carrying shopping, cleaning up litter, feeding the homeless and paying parking fines (we broke the exclusive here).

The Mirror, the Metro, the Express, even MSN and the Huffington Post across the pond jumped on the bandwagon. Who was this Captain Manchester?
Well, it turned out to be a guerrilla marketing campaign for charity Forever Manchester, put together by those clever buggers at Tunafish Media in order to raise the profile of the charity, encourage people to do something positive in their communities and hopefully raise a few bob in the process through the selling of the Captain Manchester comic (£4 available here). Estimates suggest that £2k has already been raised through the campaign.
Last week Tunafish Media and Forever Manchester played host to the launch of the first comic book at Northern Quarter’s best trendy underground hideaway venue 2022NQ. Utterly starstruck, I managed to catch a word with the man, the myth, the Captain.

I worked in supermarkets, bars and PR before my last job as a civil engineer. Neither allowed me to wear a cape.
What has been your best superhero moment so far?
Seeing the smiles on people's faces when I do something good for them, and being able to give something back to the community with the help of Tunafish Media and Forever Manchester.
Where are your favourite places to eat?
Australasia and Solita.

Uniting the communities of Manchester and making it a better place to be.
