Burger chain will open in Manchester Hall this summer
While the likes of Byron and Handmade Burger Co. continue to feel the pinch, closing branches up and down the country, one national burger chain is looking to buck the trend and ramp up operations with a move northwards.
Confidential has just learnt that London’s posh burger brand, Honest Burgers - first opened in Brixton in 2011 – is planning to open a new branch in Manchester later this year.
The chain – which operates 23 restaurants across the capital – will take over the space currently occupied by Garage bar in the beautifully renovated Manchester Hall on Bridge Street.
The unit - which sits on the edge of Spinningfields between Manchester House and the newly opened Masons Restaurant Bar - was originally intended for Leeds’ Basque-inspired tapas restaurant, Pintura. However, Confidential understands the restaurant pulled out sometime last year.
In a market as saturated as the fat, Honest has become a firm favourite amongst London burger lovers for its juicy, rare-breed aged-beef patties, signature rosemary-salted chips and brunch specials with bubble & squeak. They also do curry sauce. Winner.
In December the brand announced that it had invested £600,000 in a butchery so that it could make its own LTTC (less than thoroughly cooked) accredited burgers… that’s rare to you and me.
Confidential understands Honest Burger will open in Manchester Hall in the summer, alongside new pan-Asian restaurant Fable and award-winning Bombay-inspired café, Dishoom.
