Festive pop ups include Seven Bro7hers brewery and The Dockyard
Salford’s Seven Bro7hers Brewing Co is setting up at MediaCityUK with a pop-up which marks the start of a festive line up for the return of ‘Box on the Docks’ - winter edition.
Nestled between the BBC and The Botanist, Seven Bro7hers will be the first pop-up to launch on Wednesday 4th November, whilst popular bar and restaurant The Dockyard are also unveiling plans to expand their offering ahead of the launch of Box on the Docks Christmas.
We have keep our spirits up in the run up to Christmas… and nothing brightens the mood more than burgers and beer.
This seasonal change follows the success of the pop up’s summer stint, which safely welcomed thousands of diners while helping to support two of the most-hardest hit industries – the arts and hospitality.
Providing both a socially-distanced dining experience and piece of public art, Box on the Docks consists of 30 self-contained deluxe sheds and greenhouses each decorated by specially commissioned Salford-based artists – the new Winter edition will see the site transformed once again with brand new artist commissions, interactive experiences and all-important heating.
This announcement is the first of many to come as Box on the Docks evolves for winter. Vertigo, The Botanist and Wagamama will all return with brand new ‘boxes of experience’ to dine in and enjoy.
The Seven Bro7hers MediaCityUK pop-up will offer indoor seating for diners and take over several of the heated, art adorned sheds and greenhouses on the campus. From its ‘insta-worthy’ pods, they will serve a selection of the popular brewery’s family of beers alongside a burger menu and selection of home-cooked dishes.
Initially the pop-up will serve from Wednesday to Sunday, 12 –10pm, however, depending on demand, the brothers may consider expanding opening times to seven days in the run up to Christmas.
Seven Bro7hers was founded in 2014 by McAvoy brothers, Guy, Keith, Luke, Daniel, Nathan, Kit, and Greg, inspired by their dad’s home-brewing in their cellar at home. They currently run two successful beer houses, Middlewood Locks and Ancoats and run a bar on the outskirts of MediaCityUK from its Salford taproom. The brewery will be launching a partnership bar in Manchester Airport’s new terminal two when it reopens as part of a lucrative 10-year deal.
Keith McAvoy, CEO of Seven Bro7hers, said: “We are really excited to be launching our MediaCityUK pop up, it’s a great opportunity to get our beer in font of new customers and offer a new experience for loyal bro7hers fans.
“As restrictions rumble on across Greater Manchester we have keep our spirits up in the run up to Christmas… and nothing brightens the mood more than burgers and beer.
“Due to covid-19 our beer houses in Liverpool and Leeds have been delayed until 2021, we can’t wait to launch but it has to be the right time for us and our customers.”
The pop-up bar will operate under covid-19 regulations; staff will wear PPE, while screens and a one-way system with two-metre distancing will apply indoors and there’s an app for taking table service orders and payment.
The Dockyard will also return to Box on the Docks following successful summer where they took over a number of sheds and greenhouses, with bookings regularly selling out. They are currently transforming their outdoor seating area, installing brand new additional boxes allowing even more households and bubbles to dine out whilst ensuring they are safe, secure in alignment with government guidelines.
Josie Cahill, MediaCityUK Place Director said: “The opening of the Seven Bro7hers pop-up and The Dockyard’s additional boxes mark the start of our festive plans. It’s great that we have a local independent to add to the line-up of MediaCityUK eateries safely serving customers throughout the Christmas period. We’ve been blown away by designs submitted for the next wave of Box on the Docks pods and will be unveiling the successful commissions in the coming weeks.”
MediaCityUK will offer visitors safe, secure and spacious days out over the winter season, with Christmas lights to admire and shows and gallery exhibitions to visit at The Lowry Arts Centre. The Makers Market will return for shoppers to enjoy browsing locally made artisan treats and late-night Christmas shopping will return to Quayside MediaCityUK.
