BLUEDOT, a brand new festival of music, science and space exploration is coming to Jodrell Bank on 22-24th July. More here.

Apparently each course will be inspired by ‘intergalactic travel and exploration’

Star-gazy folk are invited to camp out under the stars and enjoy a stellar programme of music, science, arts, technology, culture, food and film.

Chef Aiden Byrne will be joining the crew with his own pop up ‘Restaurant at the End of the Universe’ which will be located beneath the MKII radio telescope, affording incredible views of Brian Eno’s Lovell Telescope installation.

Described as ‘a genius’ (mainly by his own PR team) Chef Aiden was the youngest chef ever to win a (Michelin) star of his own, and is now to be found creating innovative multi-course menus in the kitchens of his fine dining restaurant, Manchester House.

He will be on a mission to deliver a stratospheric seven-course menu, designed especially for the festival, to be served on the Friday and Saturday evenings as well as on the Saturday lunchtime.

His galactic banquet is expected to feature some of earth’s most luxurious ingredients as well as molecular interventions taken directly from the universe, with cues taken from astronomy, the cosmos and futurism. Apparently each course will be inspired by ‘intergalactic travel and exploration’... but we’re almost positive Aiden gets the Metrolink to work like everyone else.

Describing his seven course menu, which will include courses such as Razor Clam, Fennel Jelly and Charred Turbot, followed by Gold Rush Apple and Caviar, as well as SPACE - the final course (perhaps just a Milky Way), Aiden said that creating a menu ‘isn’t usually rocket science’, but that while choosing the dishes, he ‘loved researching the history of space travel, man’s obsession in finding new galaxies, stars and planets.’ He added, ‘I wanted our guests to experience a little of that and feel the g’s through interesting ingredients and food pairings.’

On the Sunday, 'The Restaurant at the End of the Universe' will be using out of this world local Cheshire produce to create one of the best Sunday roasts on the planet.

Elsewhere on site there will be a galaxy of international cuisine and some of the very best street food vendors this side of the moon providing food fit for every ‘star grazers’ plate.

Full weekend camping and day tickets are now on sale. Weekend tickets start from £129 and day tickets start from £35. Boutique camping starts from £495 and places for the seven-course menu provided by Michelin star chef Aiden Byrne in ‘The Restaurant at the End of the Universe’ are £69.
