FLIPPIN’ heck, the Northern Quarter branch of Manchester’s NYC style speakeasy chain is throwing down the gauntlet to all the pancake fans among us.
Shrove Tuesday, the gluttonous day of flat cake celebration which signals the last day before Lent is upon us once again. Shops are stocked with extra rations of lemon, sugar and Nutella for the occasion and Black Dog Ballroom NQ is tossing a challenge your way.
Adam Richman has nothing on this one – contestants will have 30 minutes to consume as many pancakes as they possibly can. That’s it, against the clock endurance eating of the simple crepe.

Gallons of milky batter will be on hand to fuel the floury frenzy for those who feel they can step up to the plate and achieve gastro glory.
The esteemed winner will receive (as well as their pancakes) a £20 bar tab and one hour’s complementary pool.
