The Simpson Haugh-designed scheme was rejected in October
A new property development backed by former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff has undergone a major rethink after the council knocked the original plans for six.
Located on Arundel Street, between Mancunian Way and St George's Church, the scheme - put forward by Flintoff's Logik Developments - included a 35-storey glass tower, a second ten-storey tower and 386 apartments.
The height and number of apartments have both been reduced
However, Manchester City Council rejected the SimpsonHaugh designed scheme in October 2018 following concerns from residents and councillors over its impact on the Castlefield conservation area.
Following consultation with local residents group the Britannia Basin Community Forum, the proposal has been redesigned and reconfigured, with the tower dropped by twelve storeys, the number of apartments reduced, the cladding replaced and improved public realm.
Speaking to Place North West, Rachel Haugh of SimpsonHaugh said: “We greatly enjoyed the process of consultation and design development explored with the Britannia Basin Community Forum.

"The outcome is a proposed built form, landscape and pedestrian experience which we believe will contribute positively to the area.”
The new plans will be put to a public consultation on Friday 29 March (4pm-7pm) at Banyan Tree on Ellesmere Street.
