Pride Fringe 'Secret Screenings' (except they're not secret because they're listed here)...
Manchester Pride is holding two intimate secret cinema screenings at the Moston Miners Community Arts & Music Centre next week, giving audiences a viewing of a new and highly anticipated feature, Pride, in which UK gay and lesbian activists work to help miners during their lengthy strike of the National Union of Mineworkers in the summer of 1984. The secret screening comes ahead of its general release date in September 2014. With only a limited number of tickets available, these exclusive previews are expected to sell out quickly.

Victoria Warehouse is working alongside Secret Cinema to stage a special, one-off, impromptu screening of Dead Poet’s Society to celebrate the life of Robin Williams, with all proceeds from the event going towards mental health charity Mind. Dead Poet’s Society, the BAFTA and Academy Award winning film directed by Peter Weir, tells the story of English teacher John Keating (Robin Williams) who inspires his students to follow their dreams through his teaching of poetry.

Peterloo - Soldiers on the Rampage
To commemorate the anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre in Manchester in 1819, celebrated local folk musicians Geoff Higginbottom, Martin Gittins and Bob Ashworth will perform their homage to Peterloo. Come and listen to this amazing collection of songs linked together by prose and quotes recounting the story of the Peterloo Massacre. There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and talk to the musicians about the Peterloo Massacre and how it is still relevant today. Suitable for all ages.

Break out the food colouring and get colourful for Pride, the Great Village Bake Off is back. Sweet or savoury, pie or cake, there are no limits beyond what you are able to carry. The lovable GBBO contestant Howard Middleton will be on hand to judge the entries and all proceeds go to Manchester Pride. Homo Hero Award nominee for ‘Best LGBT Venue’, The Molly House, will host the competition.

The Peterloo Massacre Walk
16 August, 1819 is the moment that defines the British struggle for democracy, the day that coined a phrase and stirred a nation. This season of events, live performances and high quality artworks at Imperial War Museum North looks to commemorate the First World War. Bill Fontana’s Vertical Echoes is a unique sound sculpture that uses eight loudspeakers and vibration sensors to project the roar of a Sopwith Camel Biplane and the echoes of a field gun from the trenches that rises and falls as visitors enter. Also featuring will be works by Mark Anstee and Jennifer Vickers.

Karma to Burn
This American instrumental stoner rock band, whose album entitled Almost Heathen is seen as one of the defining pieces of the stoner rock genre, will be playing the Deaf Institute. They'll be supported by UK stonerrockers Desert Storm who boast gigantic riffs, sludge and blues grooves.

The Great British Pimms Picnic
The Oast House is offering the chance to get together and bask in the sunshine (hopefully) in their open air courtyard, sipping on a glass of Pimms. Local nail salon 'Pretty Me Nails' will be showcasing their newest product and a few lucky ladies will get their nails painted in this seasons hottest trend. The evening will conclude with a prize draw.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Screenfields tops off another season with this classic featuring Kevin Costner, morgan Freeman and Alan Rickman. Join Robin and his merry men as they fight the tyranny of the Sheriff of Nottingham and seek to avenge the death of Locksley’s father.
