SALFORD MUSIC FESTIVAL 2014
Returning for its fifth outing and boasting over 150 artists, seventeen Salford venues (and one in Manchester, sshh) play host to the 2014 Salford Music Festival 2014. Festival headliners The Fall will pack out the humble Lower Kersal Social Club on Sat 27 Sept, with other confirmed bands including Death to the Strange, Shauna Mackin, LVLS, Kassoma, King Kartel, China White, JB Barrington and The Backhanders. BUY ART FAIR
Now in its seventh year, the largest art fair in the north (doubling in size since last year), Buy Art Fair, will be held in their new home at the iconic Old Granada Studios from Fri 26 to Sun 28 September. Eighty galleries will be exhibiting the work of over 500 artists with prices from £50 to £5,000+, meaning there's a piece of original and affordable art for everyone.

THE GUERRILLA GOES AGAIN...
Following a licensing cock-up last weekend ('lost in the system', right-o), Guerrilla Eats are primed and ready to roll out their new street food party... again. Having thoroughly decked out the 6500 sq ft ground floor of the Fairbairn Building in Ancoats, expect 500 people, seven food traders, two bars and a full roster of DJs every Saturday from 5pm 'til midnight. There's astrotruf too, for some reason... garden theme anyone?

BAND ON THE WALL CELEBRATES
Band On The Wall’s marking five years renovated on Swan Street on Friday 26 September. The music venue's seen an eclectic range of artists in recent years including Paloma Faith, Will Young and Inspiral Carpets. Head down for its weekend long schedule of drum, bass, funk, soul and a ‘disco pimp’.

MARY CHAPIN CARPENTER, MANCHESTER CAMERATA AND BENJAMIN SCHEUER
This will be fine collaboration between Mary Chapin Carpenter and Manchester Camerata as she showcases songs from her new album. 'Songs From The Movie' is an orchestral reinvention of classic Mary Chapin Carpenter compositions, reflecting her love of classic film and symphonic music. The show will also feature some of her greatest hits including ‘Stones In The Road’, ‘The Hard Way’ and ’10,000 Miles'.

MFDF CONTINUES WITH GARY NEVILLE ON THE PANS
The Manchester Food and Drink Festival will draw to a close on Monday 29 September but not before we’ve scoffed, gorged and feasted on more food at Albert Square. The last weekend kicks off with Gary Neville’s cooking demo to launch his and Ryan Giggs new Trafford hotel aptly named, Hotel Football. Yep, it’s definitely happening (Fri 26 5:30pm). Expect more live music, more streetfood vendors, cheese, chocolate and 100 beers.

LUST FOR LIFE
Hannes Norrvide’s early solo albums under the Lust for Youth moniker have been described as 'dark, cold, atonal, tormented, lonely, and lower than lo-fi'. The approach on International has shifted dramatically. Writing as a three-piece now, with longtime live collaborator Loke Rahbek and new band member Malthe Fischer, LFY have entered a completely new territory. The result is a 'buoyant synth masterpiece in the vein of early Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys and New Order', apparently.

ASIA TRIENNIAL
Every three years, Asia Triennial Manchester (ATM) - the only Asian Art Triennial outside the Asia Pacific region - offers the opportunity to experience the very best of Asian contemporary visual culture created by artists currently working internationally and in the UK. Based around the theme of Conflict and Compassion, over 50 artists from twelve countries will be showing work across twelve venues in Manchester city centre, The Quays, Salford, Bury and Rochdale.

Showing as part of the Asia Triennial '14. A down-on-his-luck movie star moves into a rundown tower block inhabited by ghosts, spirits and vampires in this highly stylized horror film that draws on Chinese traditions of the supernatural. Written and directed by rising star Juno Mak, Rigor Mortis has breathed new life into the Hong Kong horror film.

AIN'T LOVE THE BLUES
The Underground Project in collaboration with Almost Famous Northern Quarter and Cystic Fibrosis is proud to announce their next art/music show. Backwater Rises will bring an eclectic range of blues and dirty rock into the heart of Manchester featuring Howard Rose, Leonard Hammersley, Clockwork Radio and Walk. As always the entrance will be FREE of charge. £10 will get you an EP, a drink and a shot - which is probably just what you're after on a Monday night (£1 will go to Cystic Fibrosis research).

WAREHOUSE RETURNS
Warehouse Project, the club night that made 'going clubbin' less naff returns, and it's taking it down a notch. Following a stream of sweaty, argie-bargie Warehouse events at Trafford's Victoria Warehouse, the cult club promoters recognized that getting trampled to buggery by thousands of ravers wasn't winning them any new fans. What to do? Scale it back and take it old-school. So the Warehouse Project returns to their original home (discounting the Boddies brewery) at Store Street beneath Piccadilly this season, and predictably have all but SOLD OUT. This event at Albert Hall on Peter Street (Not Store Street) with SBTRKT and Denai Moore on Tues 30 Sept is one of very few Warehouse events with remaining tickets.

SIBERIA: ON THE EDGE
Manchester Museum’s next exhibition Siberia: At the Edge of the World combines some unique specimens such as a baby mammoth preserved in the permafrost, with stunning artefacts, rare objects and photographs. This is the first UK show on Siberia, and reveals a surprisingly rich and varied picture of this vast, diverse and little known territory.
